(review of the last two Restorations Workshops highlighted below)

Saturday, April 26th/2008 ..!

The above date, approximately 20 members were in attendance for the highly educational and hands-on experience @ the garage/workshop of Al Glen.

The Restoration Session was lead by Carl Becker, assisted by Al Glen covering the topics of "Electrical" -Area #2; and "Exhaust" - area #5, offering an excellent opportunity to learn about restoring your Model A correctly using the MAFCA Judging Standards Manual. Members who have the Manual, were encouraged to read the above areas to familarize themselves with the content before the session. Lunch was served by gourmet chef John Haddon for a $5.00 contribution.

Saturday, March 29th/2008 ..!

A review of the Restoration/Training workshop which was held on the above date again @ the garage/workshop of Al Glen.

Restoration Session was lead by Carl Becker as 20 members had an opportunity to learn about the MAFCA JSC (Judging Standards Committee) and their current activities in revising the Judging Standards.

Carl broke the group into two sections to cover the two topics earmarked for the day : Area #3 "Cooling System" & Area #4, "Undercarriage".

We thank Gord Hill for providing his recently completed chassis and Jim De Wolf for his 1931 Cabriolet for judging purposes.

Thanks as always to John Haddon for providing the delicious bar-b-que lunch which followed.

History of the Restoration Workshops :

A series of sessions dedicated to the dual purpose of assisting members in becoming familiar with using the MAFCA Judging Standards in Model A restoration; as well as steering those members who wish to become more involved with the Judging process, and in qualifying for an Apprentice Judge status.

Our first seminar was conducted in 2006 with 19 Club members in attendance and hosted at the workshop of member Carl Becker, in Sidney (on Vancouver Island). Carl was then in the process of assembling a near perfect complete chassis, ready for body installation, for his 1931 Deluxe Roadster...so lead the introductory session based upon the chassis including engine, transmission, running gear, brakes and all...!

Subsequent seminars have involved the judging of complete cars, including those intended for judging at future Meets. Not only has the exercise served as a highly educational format for learning how to restore Model A's "by the book",.... but it has also allowed for a "dry run" in judging to improve score results.

Future Restoration Seminars to be announced : dates, time and location..!
